New Ford MERCON® Approval for Havoline® Full Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF

By April 7, 2022No Comments

Chevron is excited to announce the addition of Ford’s MERCON®-LV approval to the list of OEM approvals for Havoline® Full Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF, after a slight reformulation lowered the product’s viscosity. Chevron feels it is important to carry a dual-licensed ATF because it is specifically formulated to meet the needs of the growing low viscosity, multi-vehicle ATF market.

The Ford MERCON-LV spec and General Motors DEXRON®-VI spec are the only North America OEM specifications for which service-fill ATF approvals are granted. Havoline Full Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF is approved by Ford and General Motors for use in transmissions and transaxles requiring their latest ATF specifications. The MERCON-LV and DEXRON-VI specs are expected to grow to over 30% of the North American car parc coverage by 2024.

Key product benefits include:

  • It is backwards compatible with all applications that require GM DEXRON-III, DEXRON-II and DEXRON
  • Low viscosity formula reduces transmission drag and improves efficiency to help maximize fuel economy
  • Superior high temperature and anti-oxidation properties help protect the transmission and keep it clean during extended drain intervals

As a reminder, the list of OEM specifications was updated in the fall for Havoline Global Multi-Vehicle ATF to reflect Subaru ATF HP, Jaguar Land Rover 02JDE 26444 and LRO 23288. There was no formulation change that coincided with those additions.

Together, Havoline Full Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF and Havoline Global Multi-Vehicle ATF meet the OEM-specified ATF needs of sixty-two percent of the most popular vehicles found in North America.
