Please be advised the following letter from Cary Knuth will be sent to Chevron Marketers in this week’s LubeLink. It addresses some product orders being filled in different-colored packaging, where necessary.
Dear Valued Customer,
As you all know, like most industries, the lubricants industry continues to experience significant challenges in all aspects of its supply chain. One challenge for Chevron and for many of you has been the availability of packaging containers, especially drums, kegs and pails. Normally, the color of these containers should be “Chevron blue.” The color has always been and continues to be a critical element of our brand image. However, in the current environment, we and you are not always able to procure the containers in this color.
In recent months, Chevron has allowed some of our marketers to use black containers as needed to ensure reliable supply. Moreover, Chevron expects that, when shipping from our own plants, we will need to use black containers periodically as well. We anticipate that this may be the case for a number of months going forward.
For now, from time to time, you may receive products in black containers from Chevron or your regular marketer, although there will be no changes to our product labels. If this is the case, please rest assured that you are receiving genuine Chevron products that continue to be backed by our product warranty. If you have any doubts or concerns, please contact our LubeTek Hotline at 800-582-3635, and we will confirm whether we or your marketer have been authorized to use black containers for your shipment.
Reminder to Chevron marketers: If you are having difficulty securing the proper containers, as always, please contact your Business Consultant to discuss your options and, if appropriate, obtain our authorization to deviate from the standard containers. This letter is not, and should not be construed as such authorization.
Chevron continues to leverage our supply network in an effort to mitigate these and other disruptions to your business and will update you as the situation evolves. We appreciate your business and understanding through these difficult times.
Best regards,

Cary Knuth
