Finding out what type of varnish your customer/prospect has is the first step towards eliminating it and preventing it from recurring. The free MPC* Plus oil sampling kit and analysis offers valuable insights into the type of varnish that is in their system.
The new MPC Plus testing detects varnish that is soluble in the oil. Soluble varnish is the beginning stages of varnish formation in the oil. Over time it will cause the fluid to become overly saturated with varnish, which will lead to it becoming insoluble. Detection of this can lead to early mitigation of varnish and can help prevent further varnish formation, causing detrimental damage to the equipment.
The testing kit is available to order from the Stick-it-to-Varnish page on ChevronLubricants.com. Encourage your customers to order one today.
The standard MPC method, ASTM D7843, is meant to detect varnish that has fallen out of suspension/solution. It does not detect when the varnish is still soluble in the oil.
